It’s becoming a lot harder for people to get away with racial double-standards right now, with protests all across the country continuing to rage. Tensions are higher and there is a lot more attention on things, which is why Laura Ingraham’s comments on last night’s show in defense of New Orleans Saints quarterback’s “right to an opinion” sounded a lot different than when she told LeBron James and Kevin Durant to “shut up and dribble.” One twitter user spliced up the video to show the very clear difference in response when two black athletes were talking about Donald Trump compared to Drew Brees saying kneeling during the national anthem is “disrespectful” of the flag.

All The Smoke host and former NBA player Matt Barnes also called out the juxtaposition in statements on his Instagram, saying that this is not a “grey issue,” but it’s “black and white.”
Utah Jazz All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell also weighed in.
Funny how the narrative changes…. https://t.co/8Nch5KTUmc

That Ingraham said what she did in response to Brees was not surprising at all, but it’s becoming a lot harder not to notice her tone was considerably different when black athletes use their voice to speak out on issues that are important to them.
