The Vikings will have to avoid regression in 2020 with help from returning leaders on offense.
One of those leaders is Dalvin Cook. The running back is coming off a season in which he had 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2019, both career highs.
NFL Analysis Network thinks he has a chance to be pretty good — maybe even MVP-caliber good. The outlet listed Cook among five players who they think could be dark-horse candidates to take home the MVP in 2020.
Here’s what it said about Cook:
“Dalvin Cook is one of the most explosive players in the NFL. He has speed, vision, and can cut on a dime. Truly Cook is one of the few backs that can score any time he touches the football. Dalvin Cook is also very versatile. He can hurt teams in the passing game just as much as the run game. He isn’t talked about much in the NFL’s best back debate, but he should be. I expect this year to be a big breakout year for Cook.”
Though that message is positive, the outlet did mention that Cook has had injury problems in the past. I think if he stays healthy, and the Vikings make the playoffs with a run-first offense, he has a chance to at least be in the conversation.
