The Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling recently compiled a list of rookies he thinks have a chance to become big contributors for the Vikings in 2020.
And while the usual suspects were listed, such as first-round picks Justin Jefferson and Jeff Gladney, there were also some surprising names.
Here is the full list: Justin Jefferson, Jeff Gladney, Cameron Dantzler, K.J. Osborn, D.J. Wonnum, Troy Dye, Josh Metellus, Ezra Cleveland and Quartney Davis.
I think some of the more intriguing candidates are Osborn, Wonnum, Metellus, Dye and Davis.
Osborn is a wideout who can possibly be a contributor on special teams. Davis, also a wideout, has a chance to get into the rotation because as Goessling put it, “the Vikings probably would’ve drafted Texas A&M receiver Quartney Davis in the later rounds if they didn’t feel confident in the depth of the undrafted receivers this year.”
Dye will compete for the third linebacker spot alongside Kendricks and Barr. Wonnum can compete for the defensive end spot opposite of Danielle Hunter.
There’s also Metellus, who could be an adequate reserve at safety.
