Report: Patriots won’t be doing joint practices during training camp

The league has asked teams to stay at home for training camp.

Training camp will have a different feel to it this summer. According to a report from Adam Schefter, the NFL has told its teams that they will stay at their facilities for training camps.

The NFL and NFLPA wants to limit the travel for the teams as well as decreasing the risk of taking care of multiple facilities. They wants the focus to be on cleaning one facility. With the coronavirus pandemic still a big part of daily life, this sounds like a wise decision.

For the Patriots, this means that they will not be doing joint practices during training camp. The joint practices have been used by Bill Belichick and the team as a way to prepare. Last year, the organization held joint practices with the Lions and Titans.

This year, everything will be a little bit different. This could be a good thing for players, as the extra time close to home could allow them to see their families a bit more as well as stick to a solid routine throughout the course of training camp.

In what has been a strange year for sports and the world in general, this just adds to the uniqueness of the situation. It will be interesting to see how New England makes the most of their time at home.
