Michigan misses cut for heavily recruited safety

The maize and blue miss the cut on one of the nation’s most highly sought-after safeties.

Well, two out of three ain’t bad.

On Monday, two prospects that the Wolverines have long targeted put them in their top groups, as four-stars Xavier Worthy and Omarion Cooper declared Michigan finalists for their services. But such wasn’t the case for yet another recruit that the maize and blue have been after.

Only recently did 2021 Canonsburg (PA) Peters Twp. safety Donovan McMillon receive his fourth-star via 247Sports — surprising given he has 51 reported offers. Michigan has been after him since it offered on Jan. 30, but the pursuit wasn’t enough, as it didn’t make McMillon’s final five, per his announcement on Twitter on Monday.

Michigan football fans can’t be too upset given that no Big Ten teams made his list, including local Penn State.

The Wolverines already have one safety committed in the 2021 class in Clayton (OH) Northmont three-star Rod Moore.
