Vikings biggest scapegoat listed as QB Case Keenum

What?! Do you agree that the Vikings biggest scapegoat since 2010 has been… Case Keenum? Bleacher Report thinks so.

Bleacher Report thinks quarterback Case Keenum, despite leading the Vikings to the NFC Championship game, blew a prime opportunity to reach a Super Bowl.

Personally, I think the team doesn’t get to theEagles game without a breakout performance from Keenum. The quarterback stepped up, after Sam Bradford went down with an injury, to throw for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2017.

I’ve never really heard many Vikings fans say that the team would have gone to the Super Bowl if it wasn’t for Keenum. In fact, there is a small but vocal contingent that actually believes he may have been a better fit for this Minnesota team than Kirk Cousins, considering he would likely be cheaper, and a lot of fans are frustrated with Cousins’ play.

Even though I think Cousins is a better quarterback for this team than Keenum, I think that the 2017 season was special because Keenum stepped up and played as well as he did.

I wouldn’t really describe the Eagles loss as Keenum blowing an opportunity.

Here’s what Bleacher Report said about the matter:

“Keenum also flopped in the NFC Championship Game against the Eagles. While the loss wasn’t entirely his fault—he was under constant pressure from the Eagles defense—Keenum failed to keep Minnesota in the game. He completed just 28 of his 48 pass attempts for 271 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. He also lost a fumble.

The result was a disastrous 38-7 loss and the signing of Kirk Cousins the following offseason.”

The loss to the Eagles was a gut punch, but at least fans will always have the Minneapolis Miracle. That’s thanks in part to Keenum, who threw a good ball to Stefon Diggs on that play.
