Bengals great thanks Joe Burrow for stepping up and speaking out

Willie Anderson has big praise for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been widely praised for using his platform to speak out about the George Floyd protests.

And one of those offering praise is recent Bengals great Willie Anderson.

Anderson wrote the following on Twitter above Burrow’s statement: “Before he’s even stopped on the field Joe is showing us what kind of Leader he is . Things like this hardly ever get mentioned by Quarterbacks! It’s always other positions! Thank you Joe!”

It’s a good representation of what many in the Bengals locker room probably feel right about now as their new quarterback steps to the forefront and makes his voice heard.

Of course, things like this go dramatically beyond football itself. But Anderson — who played from 1996 to 2007 in Cincinnati — is one of the premier voices of the modern Bengals alongside guys like Chad Johnson.

As we documented, this is far from the first time Burrow has used his platform and reach to help others or bring light to issues. He’s made clear he’ll keep doing so too.

As Anderson’s note shows, it won’t go unnoticed.
