DeAngelo Hall would take this tight end over Gronk

NFL Network analyst and former cornerback DeAngelo Hall says there is one tight end he would take over any other, including Rob Gronkowski.

Rob Gronkowski may go down in history as perhaps the best tight end ever to play the game, and that was before he came out of retirement to reunite with Tom Brady in Tampa.

After sitting out a season, a refreshed Gronkowski will be a welcome addition to a Bucs offense that already features Pro Bowlers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Any player would want Gronk on their team, right? Well, not according to former NFL cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who now serves as an analyst for the NFL Network.

In a recent piece over on NFL.com, Hall listed his top five teammates, and had former Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed at No. 5.

Per Hall:

“Reed was unguardable when he was at full health, which, unfortunately, wasn’t often. I can say with full confidence that I’d take a healthy Reed over almost every single tight end I’ve ever played against — even Rob Gronkowski. Gronk is a great player, but he didn’t strike fear into me at the line of scrimmage. He’s big and physical, but I knew Gronk could never run by me. Reed could run by defenders on every play thanks, in large part, to his basketball background. I’m telling you, basketball guys who play football are different animals.”

Injuries and concussions derailed Reed’s promising career. The Redskins finally parted ways with the tight end this offseason. As for Reed being better than Gronk thanks to his basketball background? Well, let’s not forget Gronkowski has some skills in that area, too.
