Back home in Pennsylvania due to the coronavirus halting NBA play, Phoenix Suns rookie Cameron Johnson went out to help the community Thursday.
He helped donate food to the school his mother Amy works at, TribLive reported.
Johnson brought more than 100 Chick-fil-A meals to Hyde Elementary, part of Moon Area School District northwest of Pittsburgh.
On Thursdays, Hyde Elementary has a food drop-off, Amy told Johnson.
“A lot of it is for those who are on reduced/free breakfast and lunch during the school year. Obviously, with those kids being home now, it puts more pressure on the parents to feed them, on top of of the economic pressure the virus presents,” Johnson told TribLive.
“With that in mind, along with the challenge for the kids to switch up their learning to online to finish the school year, I just thought it would be nice to give them a little extra-warm food.”
Johnson and his younger brothers Braylon and Puff showed up with 100 sandwiched, 40 chicken nuggets, water and chips, according to TribLive.
The family spent about three hours helping.
Johnson attended high school in Pennsylvania and university at Penn for three years and North Carolina for two.
He was drafted by the Suns with the No. 11 pick in the 2019 draft.
