The death of George Floyd, who died after being pinned to the ground under a Minnesota police officer’s knee earlier in the week, has sparked protests around the nation.
The response from the sports world has come from everywhere — current athletes, former players, coaches and others. They’ve reacted to Floyd’s death, to the conversations about the protests and the police response to them, as well as to the arrest Friday morning of CNN reporter Omar Jimenez. And it includes a tweet from Colin Kaepernick, whose words and peaceful protest images have been cited and written about by many in the context of this week’s violence.
When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction.
The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance.
We have the right to fight back!
Rest in Power George Floyd

JUSTICE WILL NOT BE SERVED UNTIL THOSE UNAFFECTED ARE AS OUTRAGED AS THOSE WHO ARE‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

I’m sorry you feel that way. I spoke on it 2 days ago and I’ll speak again now. I think it was disgusting and impossible for anyone to defend. The situation could have been remedied many other ways and those responsible should be held accountable. George Floyd should be alive. https://t.co/03bdTJk2QJ pic.twitter.com/M4VyR9oIQE
