DeAndre Hopkins expects big season in Cardinals offense

He believes his numbers will be even better with the Cardinals than the last three All-Pro seasons he has had.

Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins, acquired this offseason from the Houston Texans via trade, has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL. In fact, over the last five seasons, he has the most targets and second-most receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

He has had over 100 catches in three of the last five years and four seasons with at least 95.

As good as those numbers have been, he believes they will get even better with the Cardinals because of the combination of the offensive scheme, the quarterback and the players around him.

“Obviously I’ve played with a lot of quarterbacks and put up great numbers, being in offenses that necessarily weren’t a pass-first offense,” he said on ESPN’s Jalen and Jacoby.

He described the Cardinals offense as pass-heavy.

“So, myself, being a receiver, of course I see my stats going up,” he said.

He will also have Kenyan Drake as his teammate in the backfield, who rushed for more than 600 yards in eight games with the Cardinals, and other talented receivers on the team.

“We have other great receivers out there — Christian Kirk, Larry Fitzgerald and a lot of other guys out there — but I definitely see myself having one of my more productive seasons.”

If Hopkins can top the seasons he has had over the last five years with the Cardinals, it will be a fun season to watch for Cardinals fans.
