Former Bengals QB Andy Dalton already impressing the Dallas Cowboys

Former Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is already getting praise from the Dallas Cowboys.

It didn’t take long for Andy Dalton praise to start coming from the Dallas Cowboys.

The former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback might’ve surprised when he decided to go be Dak Prescott’s backup in Dallas — but it’s far from surprising he’s already turning some heads there.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, for example, has had nothing but praise.

“He’s part of the quarterback group,” McCarthy said, according to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas News. “It’s been good. He brings a ton of experience, very impressed with his knowledge base and understanding.”

We already noted the Dalton situation in Dallas is the best sort of offseason drama. He’s more than capable of leading the Cowboys, which is something lurking in the background of the Dak Prescott franchise tag/long-term deal standoff.

Part of that is Dalton’s preparation, which has always been a strong suit. He’s now local in Dallas and asking the right questions about his new offense, per McCarthy, so he’s going to be ready to when called upon.

Dalton couldn’t have landed in a better spot for what looks like a transitional year for his career before he hits free agency again. While the Bengals probably would’ve liked to have him behind Joe Burrow, Dalton’s outlook in Dallas is clearly superb.
