The part of Kyrie Irving’s game Spencer Dinwiddie feels is underrated

Kyrie Irving gets praise for his ball-handling and finishing, but there’s an aspect of his game that might deserve more recognition.

When you think of Kyrie Irving’s game, the first thing that comes to mind is his ball-handling ability. He has the best handle in the game, probably the best all-time — a sentiment that legendary ball-handler Jason Williams shares.

Then there’s Irving’s finishing at the rim, on top of his mid-range game.  Since 2015-16, the Brooklyn Nets point guard has shot 50% or better inside the arc, and he’s a career 49.9% shooter from two.

But that isn’t where Irving’s offensive game ends. Nets fans got a glimpse of Irving’s long-range shooting in the 20 games he was able to play in this season. He shot 39.4% from deep in his brief 2019-20 after having shot just over 40% from 3-point territory in each of the previous three seasons.

Spencer Dinwiddie thinks that aspect flies under the radar so much so that he dubbed Irving the most underrated 3-point shooter in the NBA during his appearance on “The Pomp Podcast“:

He’s actually a really, really, really great 3-point shooter and I think people don’t necessarily lock in on how good of a 3-point shooter he is.

Dinwiddie also went on record, again, saying Kevin Durant is the best scorer in the league. He also labeled Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo the best defensive big in the league and New Orleans guard Jrue Holiday the best defensive guard in the league.

As for hardest worker in the NBA, Dinwiddie bestowed that honor upon himself.
