Dolphins shut out of Pete Prisco’s Top-100 NFL players of 2020

The Miami Dolphins’ roster has experienced plenty of growth this offseason and suddenly finds them in a much more favorable position than just one year ago. In the process, Miami brought in ample new faces in an effort to build the talent and along the way handed out some significant contracts to help convince talents that Miami was the place to be. Whether or not those decisions materialize to put Miami in a position to contend or not is still up for debate, but no one should be arguing whether or not the Dolphins are a more talented unit.

But do they have elite talent?

Getting difference-makers on both sides of the ball was a big missing component for Miami. Not just in 2019 either, the star power in South Florida has been missing for a long time. CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco recently ranked the Top 100 Players of 2020 in the NFL and despite Miami’s rebuilding efforts, the team was shut out of Prisco’s list of the best talents in the game.

The Dolphins did have three “honorable mentions” make the cut:

  • WR DeVante Parker
  • LB Kyle Van Noy
  • CB Byron Jones

Regardless of the lack of Dolphins included, Miami’s effort to get competitive isn’t going to ride on a single player — this will be a collaborative effort among both players and coaches alike. Perhaps the individual accolades will begin to stack up once the wins do for the Dolphins. But even if those accolades never come, the team success is what Brian Flores (and presumably most of the players now infused into Miami’s system) would prefer to see swell anyway. If the wins progress in 2020, the rest is sure to take care of itself.
