Tiger Woods’ swing advice for Tom Brady

Here’s how Tiger Woods would improve the golf swings of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Golf legends Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will return to the course alongside two NFL icons for a special team event this Sunday at Medalist Golf Club in Florida. The Match: Champions for Charity will pit Woods and Peyton Manning against Mickelson and Tom Brady for an outing that will raise $10 million for coronavirus relief.

Woods and Manning are fairly heavy betting favorites to win, but with the two PGA Tour pros’ last starts coming months ago, anything could happen. Before the event, Woods broke down the golf swings of the two quarterbacks in an interview with Golf Digest, and offered a fix for Brady’s swing.

On Tom Brady’s swing:

“You can see Tom gets that face pretty open, and he drops it under and really throws it coming down. But it shallows out nicely. If he could get it a little more square and not so open at the top…. but then again, that is his natural hand position when he has to throw a football. So that’s going to be… that’s going to take time. He’ll have plenty of time after he’s done playing with Tampa. He can fix that later. But right now, I think he’s doing the right thing by sticking with what he’s doing.”

On Peyton Manning’s swing:

“Peyton’s is a little bit more shallow, more cross, is much shorter. But you also have to understand that Peyton’s neck is fused, so he doesn’t have the mobility that he once had. I played with him pre-fusion and obviously post-fusion. When he was really struggling with having the numbness in his hand, couldn’t feel the football – and he goes off to Denver, becomes the MVP and wins the Super Bowl.”
