[autotag]Katlyn Chookagian[/autotag] will take on the unique challenge of fighting the Shevchenko sisters in consecutive bouts.
After losing to women’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 247 in February, Chookagian (13-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is now expected to meet [autotag]Antonina Shevchenko[/autotag] (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at the UFC’s next event on May 30.
MMA Junkie verified the matchup is in the process of being finalized with multiple people close to the situation. The people requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.
The UFC’s May 30 event, which does not have an a name, is slated for the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, pending Nevada Athletic Commission approval on the resumption of combat sports in Nevada.
After a long road to fighting for UFC gold, Chookagian experienced a tough go when she faced Valentina for the belt. She succumbed to a bloody second-round TKO, marking the first time in Chookagian’s career she’d been stopped inside the distance.
She will attempt to rebound against Antonina, who is the older of the Shevchenko sisters and is coming off a second-round submission of Lucie Pudilova in the “Fight of the Night” at UFC on ESPN 5 in August.
With the addition, the current May 30 lineup includes:
