As the NBA continues its attempts to bring the league back, one location, in particular, has emerged as the most likely location for the league to return. According to Yahoo’s Keith Smith, the folks at Walt Disney World believe that they will host the NBA in some form or fashion sometime in the future, though the details are still being worked out.
The NBA has gotten several inquiries from cities, including Las Vegas, but Disney World is on private property, already with hotels on the property, as well as a 12-court basketball complex known as the ESPN Wide World of Sports. This would allow, in theory, for multiple teams to play at the same time, potentially allowing for regular-season games before a playoff tournament begins.
The Athletic has also reported that Disney World is the frontrunner, as all of the momentum for the NBA’s return pointing towards Orlando, Florida. However, there are still significant hurdles that remain. The UFC has already been having fights in Jacksonville, Florida, for the past couple of weeks.
Reporting with @ShamsCharania: Sources say the NBA has Orlando/Disney World as a clear frontrunner for return-to-play site for resuming 2019-20 season. All the momentum is heading their way.https://t.co/hDbJ9JxDWo
