Sports podcaster Colin Cowherd continues to rip into the Steelers

Colin Cowherd, host of “The Herd”, rants about how the Pittsburgh Steelers are no longer a great organization.

Colin Cowherd never fails to disappoint when it comes to his holier-than-thou attitude. When it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cowherd shared this smug take on how he feels are no longer a great organization.

Cowherd also harped on a popular storyline this offseason — how Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t work hard in the offseason — and rattled off a string of quarterbacks who do. Funny, more than half of the QBs he mentions haven’t won one Super Bowl, let alone two, and only one is (so far) destined for the Hall of Fame.

Cowherd goes on to say that he doesn’t understand people’s loyalty to sports. Um… Isn’t your loyalty to sports why you even have a “job,” Mr. Cowherd?

And who needs a star receiver when the Steelers have three (and maybe four if you consider rookie Chase Claypool) guys who are each capable of putting up 600+ yards and multiple touchdowns? Sure, there will be a lot of cooks in the kitchen — with the offseason addition of tight end Eric Ebron — when the season gets underway. But, in my opinion, not having a “star” receiver is a good problem to have. The Steelers had one of those not too long ago and it got messy.

I will agree with Cowherd on one point. The Steelers aren’t evolving and adapting while many teams around them are. Mike Tomlin doesn’t take risks when he should and takes risks when he shouldn’t. It’s no longer a feature back league — only a few still utilize a feature back and, since Le’Veon Bell left, the Steelers aren’t one of them. Yet Tomlin still indicates that James Conner will be the “lead dog”.

It’s a QB-driven league, and Tomlin is nowhere near prepared for if Roethsliberger goes down this season. Obviously, none of us want to see that happen, but the Steelers weren’t ready last season when it did and look what happened. Tomlin is “comfortable” with Mason Rudolph backing up Roethlisberger in a season where Rudolph will have minimal reps with the team to improve upon his performance from last year.

I know we’ve all saved this clip and hope we can throw it back in Cowherd’s face when the Steelers go 10-6.
