What kind of numbers can we expect from the Raiders offensive skill positions? One of the more sure ways to find a conservative estimate of that is to use betting lines.
Oddsmakers typically try to find a line that’s around what’s expected of the player to put up. For Derek Carr, the expectations are not high, according to the latest prop bets put out by Foxbet.com.
The over/under on Carr’s passing touchdowns is set at 19.5 which is the second lowest among all listed quarterbacks, ahead of only Washington QB Dwayne Haskins (18.5).
Carr’s passing yards numbers line is also among the lowest in the league. His over/under is set at 3724.5 which is in the bottom tier of passers.
As for his targets, Henry Ruggs III is the only one listed. He is not among the odds in terms of passing touchdowns, with the lowest over/under listed at 4.5. Likewise he’s not listed among the over/under numbers for catches with the lowest number at at 47.5.
The only stat we see Ruggs (or any Raiders receiver) show up in the lines is receiving yards. His line is set at 799.5. So, not high expectations. For what it’s worth, that line is below fellow rookie Jerry Jeudy, but above CeeDee Lamb.
No telling where Darren Waller is in this. Several tight ends are listed, but Waller — who caught 90 passes for 1150 yards — was not there.
The only big numbers in the lines for a Raiders skill position player goes to Josh Jacobs whose rushing yards line is set at 1220.5, which is tied for the fourth highest line with Christian McCaffrey.
Jacobs also shows up among the rushing and receiving touchdown lines at 8.5.
Those numbers are about what Jacobs would have been expected to reach or surpass had he not been lost after 13 games last season. So, the oddsmakers expect Jacobs to keep up his strong rookie numbers going into his second season.
