Tennessee Titans RB Darrynton Evans’ former coach gives scouting report

The Titans have built depth behind Henry in Evans.

The Tennessee Titans look to be one of the most dominant teams in the ground game heading into the 2020 season.

And that won’t be too difficult of a task if running back Derrick Henry keeps preforming at the level he did in 2019 after finishing out last year with the league’s rushing title (1,540 yards).

The Titans have also added at the position behind Henry, selecting former Appalachian State rusher Darrynton Evans with the No. 93 overall pick in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield, who recruited and coached Evans at Appalachian State, had a lot of praise for the Titans’ newly acquired back and sees him fitting in nicely with the Titans.

“I think just his versatility (is his strongest trait),” Satterfield said. “His ability to catch the football out of the backfield, then also the fact when you’re running the zone play… he is really, really patient.”

The 5-foot-10, 203-pound back doesn’t exactly bring size to the table, but he makes up for it in other ways.

“I think he’ll be able to protect in the backfield as well,” Satterfield said. “He’s not an extremely big running back, but he’s so smart he understands protections and so he’ll know which guy he needs to go protect.”

Evans will get his first chance to prove himself with the team later this year, with the first regular season game slated for Sept. 14 on the road against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.
