Five-star WR, Oklahoma target Mario Williams to announce commitment on Friday

The momentum has been building for Oklahoma on the recruiting trail, and now the world may finally see what the Sooners have been up to.

The momentum has been building for Oklahoma on the recruiting trail it seems like for months, and now the world may finally see what the Sooners have been up to.

Five-star wide receiver Mario Williams and Oklahoma have had mutual feelings for quite some time. The Sooners have been a fixture in Williams’ recruitment for months now.

We’ll see how much that time and effort has paid off as the five-star wide receiver is set to announce his commitment on Friday at 12 p.m..

Williams is a native from Plant City, Florida, so that commitment may come at 12 p.m. ET over 12 p.m. CT.

Oklahoma has had to recruit against the heavy-hitters of college football for the five-star wide receiver like Alabama, Clemson, Florida and Georgia. The Sooners last landed a five-star wide receiver when they landed three in the 2019 recruiting class (Jadon Haselwood, Theo Wease and Trejan Bridges).

Lincoln Riley’s 2021 recruiting class currently has five members, including a wide receiver in Cody Jackson from the same high school (Richmond Foster) as CeeDee Lamb in Richmond, Texas, in the Houston area.
