The Jacksonville Jaguars went into the draft confident in their offensive line and added just one player in the draft in St. John star Ben Bartch. That said, the unit has a lot of improving to do when looking at their 2019 campaign.
One area many in particular will point to is the right guard spot where A.J. Cann plays. While he wasn’t the weakest link of the unit, he hasn’t played like many would hope for a veteran, registering a Pro Football Focus grade of 55.2.
It’s very possible that the Jags drafted Bartch with the mindset of replacing Cann next season or the season after, but what if they could improve the position immediately? That could very well be a possibility with the addition of Larry Warford, who the New Orleans Saints released a few days ago.
The Texans are reportedly interested in adding former Saint Larry Warford to replace Zach Fulton at RG.

Simply put, Warford would give Jacksonville a player who flourishes in the run game with a 76.6 PFF grade in the category and a 73.1 grade overall. Sure, the Jags have come out to show their confidence in the offensive line but their actions at guard last year spoke differently. Up until December, they used an unorthodox rotation at guard last year playing both Cann and Will Richardson there, and though they eventually committed to Cann, that’s a concerning situation for a veteran with his experience.
According to the NFLPA’s cap report, the Jags have over $21.2 million in cap space available. About $14 million of that will have to go to their rookie draft selections. That puts the Jags in position where they may can get a one-year deal done. However, with other teams likely interested, their chances are slim and they may have to get creative with something a little longer.
