With Mother’s Day falling on Sunday in the United States and other countries around the world, many athletes are honoring their moms on social media for everything they have done over the course of their lives.
One athlete that is infamously not on social media is Michael Jordan. The Hall of Famer typically avoids media interviews except only recently with the debut of “The Last Dance” documentary, which chronicled the Chicago Bulls’ 1997-98 championship season, the final of their dynasty.
On the first episode of the 10-part miniseries, Jordan’s mother, Deloris, read aloud a letter Jordan wrote her during his time in college at North Carolina. Jordan asked Deloris for some money and stamps as only a college student can request.
Dear Mom,
How has life been treating you? Fine, I hope. I am doing just fine. I am sending you my account number so that you can deposit some money in my account. I have only $20 left. Tell everyone I said hello. And smile. God and I love you.
P.S. Sorry about the phone bill. Please also send me some stamps.

The letter from home immediately hit Twitter in all of the feels to see Jordan become emotional listening to his mother read the letter. For a person that is known to be an extremely competitive player, the moment revealed a human side of Jordan that isn’t often seen.
Episodes 7 and 8 of “The Last Dance” will air on Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET.
