Is Chase Young vs. Carson Wentz most intriguing rookie debut in 2020?

Chase Young will take his first career snaps in the NFL against Carson Wentz, which is a great test for the young rookie to start out with.

Fans of the Washington Redskins were probably ecstatic to see their Week 1 matchup be scheduled against the Philadelphia Eagles, getting a hated division rival at home in their first game of the season.

One person who probably wasn’t as big of a fan is Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, knowing that he may now be subjected to the coming-out party for Redskins rookie DE Chase Young.

While most of the rookies who were drafted in the early rounds will get a chance to prove themselves on that first Sunday of the season, it may be Young who is the most fascinating to watch. Bengals QB Joe Burrow will be dueling with Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert — should he win the job over Tyrod Taylor — but watching Young try to take down one of the better QBs in the league will be high entertainment. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has it pegged for the most interesting rookie debut to start the season.

While everyone is closely examining the rookie quarterbacks, I’ll be watching Young bring Carson Wentz to the turf in a vintage Washington performance. I expect the Redskins to be much improved under Ron Rivera, and Young will lead a Pro Bowl-caliber charge.

You can have your rookie quarterbacks, we dealt with that circus last year. We’ll just sit back and take the guy who will put your guy into the ground, play after play, year after year.
