UFC welterweight champion [autotag]Kamaru Usman[/autotag] isn’t the only option the promotion is looking at for [autotag]Jorge Masvidal[/autotag]’s next fight.
While UFC president Dana White was not willing to reveal specifics, Friday he told ESPN a different “interesting” matchup – not Usman – is on the table for the “BMF” champion.
“We’re talking about a few different things,” White said. “We have something else interesting for Masvidal, too, that we were just talking about (Thursday). We’ll see.”
Only time will tell who’s next for Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 12-6 UFC), White said. There are still a lot of moving parts. White said the UFC is mainly focused on its events May 9, 13 and 16, all of which take place in Jacksonville, Fla.

“We’ll see how this whole thing plays out – locations and how fast,” White said. “To start speculating down the road right now is too soon. Let’s get by these three fights in Florida and we’ll figure out what’s next. We’re talking about different possibilities with those guys.”
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic leading to the postponement of the upcoming UFC schedule, all signs pointed to Usman vs. Masvidal as a potential matchup for UFC 252 on July 11. The event was supposed to coincide with the annual “International Fight Week,” which White has since said will likely be canceled.
