Raiders really do own the stadium
Being a tenant of a stadium instead of owning comes with a lot of pitfalls and UNLV football is going through issues right now. There have been reports about some of their home games will be pushed back to Sam Boyd Stadium and now that is official.
The Rebels will be back at Sam Boyd Stadium on Sept. 5 to play Louisiana Tech and there is a chance that the Sept. 12 game against Arizona State could be back at the old home, yet details on the Sun Devils game is not yet finalized.

The Raiders have every right to do this as they own the stadium and they know they can fill a concert or event at Allegiant Stadium and will draw more than what the Rebels will bring in.
The lure of the Raiders to Las Vegas was to boost UNLV football which really could use one and gain some traction or long term success in Sin City. Going back and forth between Sam Boyd and a shiny new NFL stadium has to be tough on the team and new head coach Marcus Arroyo.
Playing in an amazing stadium was a way for UNLV to attract a better opponent in non-conference play but if there is a possibility of playing at Sam Boyd, opposing teams will be hesitant to sign a deal to play at UNLV.
The @FOX5Vegas is showing you some new branding on @AllegiantStadm. Working on that roof is not exactly the coolest place to be with a high around 100º. The Excessive Heat Warning continues through Thursday with highs in the upper-90s. @Raiders @unlvfootball pic.twitter.com/rj0Wd8I5nz

The only cure for this is to win and fill up the stadium and outperform what other events could potentially be held over Rebels football. Outside of that, there is nothing the Rebels can do because it is in the contract that the Raiders can do as they wish its own stadium.
However, an argument can be made that since there is so much public funding toward the stadium that UNLV football should be able to play six or seven times in Allegiant Stadium.
The Rebels just need to take on the mantra of the Raiders: “Just win baby!”
