Gabe Brown’s sophomore season saw improvements in nearly every statistical category, but, does not feel like a big step forward. The 6’7″ Forward showed off his ridiculous athleticism all throughout the year with jaw-dropping dunks and blocks, playing 21.9 minutes per game. Unfortunately, you can argue this season was an overall disappointment for Gabe.
At times, Gabe Brown was electric on the court. Brown threw down ridiculous dunks and alley-oop passes, creating a number of highlight plays. He also utilized this athleticism for chase-down blocks at the rim. Brown’s best game of the season was a season-high 17 points against Nebraska in a road win.
I think Brown has all of the talent and raw ability but has not fully developed his game just yet. He didn’t score in any points in five games this season and scored in double-digit figures only seven times. For instance, Brown did not score in a 64-63 loss to Wisconsin. Five points could have swung a win for Michigan State. Consistency is key next for Gabe as he moves into his junior season.
While there is room for improvement, Brown did some good things this year. For instance, he had the second-lowest turnover percentage in the entire Big Ten. As mentioned earlier, he did also improve in multiple statistical categories. Brown could absolutely come back next year and lead MSU with more consistency on the offensive end of the court.
