With some states planning to reopen in the midst of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the NBA has laid out a plan to allow players in those states to work out at team facilities.
On Monday, the NBA announced it has set May 8 as the target date for players to have “limited, individual workouts [at team facilities] in cities not subject to government restrictions.”
Certain restrictions have been laid out by the league:
- No more than four players would be permitted at a facility at any one time.
- No head or assistant coaches could participate.
- Group activity remains prohibited, including practices or scrimmages.
- Players remain prohibited from using non-team facilities such as public health clubs, fitness centers, or gyms.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the league “informed each team to assign one senior executive to this position — Facility Hygiene Officer.”
Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie isn’t exactly a senior executive, but he still felt compelled to make his case for the position on Twitter.
@BrooklynNets I nominate myself for the position to make up for the next month or so…
I promise no Rodman activities will take place on the premises 😇 https://t.co/0fNtv2gC4h
