Pro Football Focus calls Packers’ draft an ‘unmitigated disaster’

The first three picks for the Packers have experts wondering what in the world is going on in Green Bay.

After two days of the 2020 NFL Draft, fans are wondering what in the world the Green Bay Packers are doing.

In the first round, the Packers traded up for quarterback Jordan Love.

A reminder the Packers have Aaron Rodgers.

You might argue that the Packers took Rodgers when they already had Brett Favre, but to compare Rodgers and Love is silly. Rodgers was considered a top-5 pick at the time and fell in the draft. Love is a project who threw 17 interceptions last season.

And in the second round, the Packers drafted running back A.J. Dillon, a player who most experts had going in the fourth or fifth round.

A reminder the Packers have Aaron Jones.

It feels weird to draft the backups of two of the more-talented players on your team, especially when your team just made the NFC Championship.

In the third round, the Packers took tight end Josiah Deguara. Deguara is a player who was projected to be a fifth or sixth-round pick.

The folks over at Pro Football Focus listed off their winners and losers for the draft. You can guess where the Packers were.

Here’s what Ben Linsey wrote about Green Bay’s questionable decisions:

The Packers’ draft has been an unmitigated disaster. When trading up to take Jordan Love in the first round is arguably your best pick of the draft so far, it’s tough to get on board with what’s going on. . . On a night where I liked at least one move that pretty much every team made, the Packers were the unquestioned losers.

If I had to guess, Vikings fans out there might have sent a text or two (with a smile from ear-to-ear) to their Packers friends wondering what in the world is going on in Green Bay.

Rodgers is probably wondering the same thing.
