The Jets and the Patriots are now trading buddies.
New York and New England teamed up for a trade at the end of the third round with the Jets sending the 101st pick to the Patriots in exchange for the 125th and 129th picks. The Jets also received a 2021 sixth-round pick in the deal.
After the two teams went 20 years without making a trade, Joe Douglas has made two trades with New England in the last seven months. In September, the Jets acquired wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round selection.
New York now has six picks on day three of the draft. Three of the six picks will come in the fourth round (Nos. 120, 125 and 129), while the others come in the fifth (No. 158), sixth (No. 191) and seventh (No. 211) rounds. With numerous holes still left on the roster, the additional draft capital acquired from New England will allow Douglas to continue to address needs such as cornerback, interior offensive line and running back.
