The Green Bay Packers stunned NFL fans in Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft by taking a quarterback, and on Friday night, fans were similarly stumped by the Eagles’ decision to take a backup to Carson Wentz with the 53rd overall pick.
The former Oklahoma and Alabama star joins a team that is all in on Wentz, who is still only 27, but has been plagued by injuries in past seasons. Wentz put up MVP caliber numbers for much of the 2017 season, but missed the team’s Super Bowl run. The following year, Wentz missed five games, and went just 5-6 as a starter.
The Eagles drafted a weapon for Wentz in the first round in TCU’s Jalen Reagor – a polarizing choice that was hailed by many analysts but derided by fans, who wanted a more well-known WR – but instead of addressing the team’s defensive needs, GM Howie Roseman went with a quarterback.
Remember when Carson Wentz supposedly had influence on the Eagles draft that was fun

It’s April during a quarantine and the Eagles have somehow made me feel like I just waked out of a 28-17 Sunday Night Football loss against Dallas

Carson Wentz deserves better. The Eagles are failing him.

Please stop comparing this to the Saints/Taysom Hill.
Hill was an undrafted free agent that the Saints signed when Brees was 37 years old.
The Eagles just used a 2nd round pick on Hurts when Wentz is 27 years old, and he had the worst WR unit in the NFL last year.
Just stop.

Hope the Eagles take a hockey player in the third round

It’s Week 4. Ertz, Goedert, Djax and Sanders are on IR. Wentz throws the winning TD to Jordan Matthews on 4th down who drops it with 13 seconds left.
“Should the Eagles start Hurts? He can create more offense with his legs. Thanks I’ll take my answer off the air.”
