A busy night for the Miami Dolphins yesterday in Round 1 of the NFL Draft provided plenty of drama. Miami stood firm on their first two selections, drafting QB Tua Tagovailoa and OT Austin Jackson with their early selections before a trade back from 26 to 30 allowed Miami to pick up an additional Day 3 selection in this year’s NFL Draft as well.
Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft has provided plenty of fireworks as well — the Dolphins added two more talents in the second round, tacking on OL Robert Hunt and DL Raekwon Davis as this team looks to stock up on their depth in the trenches. But the Dolphins aren’t quite done with the secondary either, as this team has worked back to the safety position with their latest pick in the 3rd-round.
With the 70th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins have selected Texas safety Brandon Jones.
Jones is the latest addition to a secondary that has recruited ample new talent this offseason. Miami’s efforts have secured a top starter in Byron Jones, a 1st-round pick in Noah Igbinoghene and now Jones. It is no mystery that the Miami Dolphins will implement a ton of sub-packages on defense — Jones will presumably be recruited for some of those sub-packages based on week to week matchups in 2020 and beyond.
