The Cleveland Browns are making waves on the second day of the Draft and taking another stud from LSU in safety Grant Delpit. The two-time All-American and Jim Thorpe Award winner is coming into the NFL with big expectations and judging by how his career has been thus far, he should have no trouble surpassing them.

Delpit is a true son of Louisiana. He was born in New Orleans and his family was unfortunately forced to move to Houston, Texas due to being displaced due to Hurricane Katrina. Delpit did not have the smoothest high school path as he transferred twice as he started out going to St. Thomas in Houston before transferring to Lamar for his junior season and finally transferring to the famous IMG Academy in Florida for his senior campaign.
Delpit was a highly recruited player as a four-star safety and ranked as the 66th best player in the entire nation. He was one of the few athletes selected to play in the Under Armour High School All-American game. Although he took a visit to Notre Dame, it was obvious from an early stage that Delpit was heading to Baton Rouge.
Delpit came in with high expectations and started 10 games during his freshman season while seeing time in 13. He ended his freshman campaign with a solo interception and 60 tackles. As a sophomore, Delpit had arguably his best season when he earned All-American honors the first time and due to the three-year eligibility rule, he was forced to come back despite likely being the first safety selected.
Despite the dip in production, Delpit still finished his junior season with All-American honors and again the Jim Thorpe Award, which goes to the nation’s best defensive back.
