Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins was the first pick of the second round, kicking off Friday’s selection process in the 2020 NFL Draft.
There was plenty to enlighten the audience about the WR who is going from the Tigers to the Bengals. For some reason, ESPN chose to inform the national audience about the challenges Higgins’ mom has battled.
How boring is Tee Higgins that “mom is a drug addict” is #3 on his Did You Know? board pic.twitter.com/PGUYpfpe6L

Beyond bizarre that the network would choose to feature his mother’s battle with drugs on a “Get to Know” graphic.
Why?
The reaction was swift and it wasn’t complimentary toward ESPN.
Espn doesn’t have to report everything. Like why put out tee Higgins mom has battled with a drug addiction for 16 years?

Thanks @ESPN , I was really wondering if Tee Higgins mom had a drug issue for 16 years but now I do. Great work 😒😒😒

Why is ESPN telling everyone Tee Higgins mom had a drug addiction

I bet these family are loving some of the “fun facts.” Tee Higgins’ graphic said that his mom fought drug addiction. That doesn’t need to be public. Terrible choice @espn

ESPN starting off the round telling us Tee Higgins mom was addicted to drugs and Michael Pittman has a terrible stutter. Why they just tearing these kids lives apart?
— TheBeanCountingConsultant (@BeanConsultant) April 24, 2020
Apparently the entire nation needed to hear about Tee Higgins' mom, who has "struggled for 16 years with drug addiction."

Can ESPN just focus on the athletes and not so much on players traumatic backgrounds. Tee Higgins just got drafted and they talk about his mom drug addiction.

ESPN just put Tee Higgins mom business all in the open on national tv . Disgusting
