Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson made one thing clear when talking about the team’s No. 29 overall pick, offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson: he’s not coming here to automatically sit on the bench.
In a Zoom call after the 2020 NFL Draft, Robinson said the plan is for Wilson to battle it out with Dennis Kelly, who was recently re-signed to a three-year deal, for the starting right tackle job.

Robinson acknowledged that there is some development that needs to be done with the rookie, but he likes Wilson’s upside.

Robinson gave a brief description of what he likes about the Georgia product.
#Titans GM Jon Robinson said Isaiah Wilson's a big man that's tough to get out of the way of and has excellent power. Robinson likes how he moves the line of scrimmage and likes how Wilson gets to the 2nd level of the defense.

The Titans were looking at other positions and were even trying to trade out of the No. 29 pick, according to Robinson, however nothing there wasn’t enough value to pull the trigger on any deal.
Robinson said other teams were interested in the 29th pick but "the value never manifested." https://t.co/ShW4FRvP6o

While this certainly wasn’t the pick many of us wanted, we have to give Robinson the benefit of the doubt based on his history of making draft picks as the Titans’ GM. After all, it’s a pretty impressive record for the most part.
The move to draft Wilson is going to create one of the more intriguing story lines of the offseason in Nashville. The Titans now have a full-blown competition at right tackle between Kelly and Wilson.
