The busy night for the Miami Dolphins continues as the team has made another selection in the 1st-round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Miami, who entered the night with three first round picks at their disposal. Miami was able to secure their perceived quarterback of the future early in the night, but the work is not done! The Dolphins must now build up the offense around their new young quarterback in an effort to give him the best chance to succeed.
They’re off to a good start.
With the 18th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins have drafted USC offensive tackle Austin Jackson to step into the team’s starting left tackle role — a pick that fills a clear and obvious need for Miami and continues the team’s effort to further fortify their rebuilt offensive line. Assuming Jackson steps in next to newly signed OG Ereck Flowers, Miami suddenly has a ton of size and mobility on the left side of their offensive line — two traits that will allow for more effectiveness in the run game.
Jackson is a bit rough around the edges in pass protection, but he’s got plenty of ceiling to tap into and should he take well to Miami’s developmental approach, he’s got a significant ceiling ahead.
One more pick looms on the horizon this evening for the Dolphins — the team is scheduled to pick again at pick No. 26.
