There have been rumors out there that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be looking to trade tight end O.J. Howard ahead of Thursday’s NFL draft. Even though Howard has struggled in his three seasons with the Bucs, the arrival of Tom Brady seemed like a saving grace for the former Alabama star. Brady made a career out of throwing touchdowns to tight end Rob Gronkowski in New England, so having an athletic tight end in Howard seemed like a perfect reason for the Bucs to keep Howard around.
But, it seems there may be another tight end ready to take Howard’s place in Tampa Bay. And it’s a name all NFL fans know well.
Sources: Retired #Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski has told New England that he’s interested in playing football again — and would want to do it with the #Bucs and QB Tom Brady. A trade would have to be worked out for this to happen.

This news sounds almost too good to be true for Bucs fans. Gronk retired prior to the 2019 season, so perhaps a year away from the game made him long for a return to the field. Plus, he has a place in Tampa, so he wouldn’t have to go far to return to the NFL. And, best of all, his friend Tom Brady is now the quarterback of the Buccaneers. It’s a win-win for the talented Gronkowski.
We’ll see if the Patriots and Bucs can pull something off before Thursday. And, it’ll be interesting to see if Howard will be part of any trade package.
