If the situation between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Yannick Ngakoue wasn’t heated already, it certainly reached its boiling point Monday. The disgruntled defensive end once again took to social media to call out the Jacksonville Jaguars, but this time it was a member of the front office who he came at in Senior Vice President of Football Administration, Tony Khan.

Ngakoue’s feud with the Jags seemingly started last summer after the front office (led by Tom Coughlin at the time) began and abruptly ended contract negotiations with him for an extension in June. The deal that was put on the table was a short-term one worth $19 million per year and guaranteed $50 million, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. However, with him being such a young player and one worthy of a long-term deal, Ngakoue passed on the offer and eventually returned to training camp after missing time.

Fast-forward to this offseason and things have clearly taken a plummet downhill. After coming out to say he didn’t want a long-term deal with the team in early March, the Jags placed the non-exclusive franchised tag on Ngakoue. He’s been vocal on social media since about wanting to leave and even went on to mention the Jags directly on Twitter by telling them that his time is up with the team.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport recently told Jags Wire that he believes the Jags really want to keep Ngakoue. He also added that this might be the week he’s moved if the Jags want to proceed without him because the phone lines could be hot with the draft coming up. Monday’s exchange certainly validates the Jags unwillingness to let Ngakoue go, however, they eventually may just want to cut their losses and avoid a situation that is clearly going to get messy.
