Peyton Manning gave Joe Burrow some pre-draft advice

Joe Burrow seeking some wise counsel.

With the 2020 NFL draft quickly arriving this week, it is likely that former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow will be the No. 1 overall pick. Ahead of his big day, he sought some pre-draft advice from Indianapolis Colts legendary quarterback Peyton Manning.

From Adam Schefter of ESPN, Burrow reached out to Manning seeking some advice before one the biggest days of his life. Manning touched on a few topics, including the following: “Manning told him to learn what he can, become a better player, before adding that he’s OK with Burrow breaking his rookie-year interception record of 28.”

Seeking counsel from The Sherriff is never a bad idea. While Manning will always be remembered for the immaculate career he left behind as well as his high character, the former No. 1 overall pick in 1998 had a rough go of it his rookie season.

Even with a prospect as strong as Burrow, who checks nearly every box a team has in wanting a franchise quarterback, the best of the best have had their struggles.

Taking advice from a future first-ballot Hall of Famer—one who has been in Burrow’s exact shoes—is always a wise decision.
