Four-star prospect Dontrez Styles of the Class of 2021 announced on social media Saturday afternoon that he has committed to play at the University of North Carolina.
The 6-foot-6 guard chose North Carolina over the likes of Clemson, Louisville, Wake Forest and Georgetown among others. According to 247Sports, Styles is a versatile player with athleticism that can play at each forward position.
Styles briefly discussed his decision to choose the Tar Heels with Paul Biancardi of ESPN and named head coach Roy Williams as a key reason why he is excited to play in Chapel Hill. Styles also named Coby White as his favorite Tar Heel.

Of course, White played last season with the Tar Heels and earned Second Team All-ACC honors after averaging 16.1 points, 4.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 35 games played. He helped lead North Carolina to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they lost to Texas A&M.
Styles is the first Tar Heels’ commit for the Class of 2021.
