NFL teams will hope to land their new franchise star next week in the 2020 NFL Draft, and with the first round expected to be loaded with offensive skill players, the race for the offensive Rookie of the Year award should be fascinating whenever football is allowed to resume.
Expectations will be high for quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa, but will any of them be able to produce a Ben Roethlisberger-type rookie season? Roethlisberger, the 11th overall pick in 2004, went an incredible 13-0 as a rookie starter before falling to the Patriots in the AFC Championship, and is No. 10 on the list of best rookie seasons ever.
Here’s a preview of the first four players that made the list:
10. Ben Roethlisberger (2004)
9. Jim Brown (1957)
8. Ronnie Lott (1981)
8. Earl Campbell (1978)
