Packers among teams showing most interest in Alabama DL Raekwon Davis

The Packers have been in contact multiple times with Alabama DL Raekwon Davis.

A massive defensive lineman prospect has attracted the interest of the Green Bay Packers during the pre-draft process.

Alabama defensive lineman Raekwon Davis told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that he’s been in regular contact with the Packers and several other teams in recent weeks.

According to Davis, the Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles have contacted him multiple times.

The Packers also met with Davis at the NFL Scouting Combine, further signaling the team’s interest in the player.

Davis burst onto the scene as a sophomore in 2017, registering 10 tackles for losses and 8.5 sacks during a dominant season. His production tailed off considerably his final two seasons. In 2018 and 2019, Davis tallied 8.5 tackles for losses and just 2.0 sacks in 27 games.

Davis is 6-6 and 311, with long arms and a powerful game. He could provide the Packers with a long, run-plugging defensive lineman to team with Kenny Clark.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic projected Davis as a second- or third-round pick.

From Brugler’s draft guide: “Davis doesn’t have the explosive traits or pass rush skills to be a top-level prospect, but he owns the size and raw power to be a scheme-versatile run defender in the NFL.”

The Packers currently hold pick No. 62 and No. 94 on Day 2 of the draft.
