To Danielle Hunter, which side of the defensive line he plays on doesn’t matter, and that might be important for Minnesota in 2020.
The defensive end told Chris Tomasson and other reporters that the Vikings can “put me on the left, put me on the right, I’ll play it. It doesn’t matter.”
Now, that Everson Griffen has announced on Instagram that he is leaving the team in free agency, Minnesota should at least prepare for Griffen’s departure. However, he recently told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network “never say never” about a possible return to the Vikings.
With that said, there’s a very good possibility that the Vikings do not re-sign Griffen. Does that mean Hunter has to switch over to the other side? Not necessarily, but it’s nice to have the option.
Minnesota added defensive end Anthony Zettel in free agency, but Zettel is more of a depth player, which means the Vikings should go to the draft to find Griffen’s replacement. Maybe the draft pick is more comfortable playing on a certain side. It’s good that for Hunter, he doesn’t seem to care about the side.
