Mel Kiper Jr. sounds off on silly Bengals-Joe Burrow narratives

Mel Kiper didn’t back down while defending the Bengals.

Mel Kiper Jr. is just as sick of the bad Joe Burrow-Cincinnati Bengals narratives ahead of the NFL draft as Bengals fans themselves.

Kiper, who has quite the interesting idea for the Bengals in his latest mock draft, appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up” and absolutely shredded the narratives:

“I’m disgusted by it. It makes me sick and I’ve been screaming about this for months. I hear this garbage everyone wants to spew about the Bengals and it’s a horrible place to go, it’s awful, you got no chance for a quarterback to have success. What are you dreaming? You want to just throw out inaccurate information, fine. … Let’s fast forward to 2011, 2015. … They had five straight winning seasons, five straight playoff appearances. They should’ve beat Pittsburgh, it was a penalty late that cost them that opportunity … with Carson Palmer, he got hurt — in a playoff game. This notion that Joe Burrow is going to a place that’s never won, never had success, never had a quarterback do anything is utterly ridiculous.”

Not much else to say, right?

Kiper hits every nail on the head here. The Bengals have had just a handful of franchise quarterbacks ever.

After spending more than $100 million in free agency and assembling a coaching staff with several former quarterbacks, the Bengals are in a great spot to groom Burrow.

While many have elected to further silly pre-draft narratives, Kiper firmly stands alone as one fighting back with logic.
