There are few post-fight promos in MMA history with the pop culture appeal of [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag]’s UFC 205 mic spiel.
“I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, I’d like to take this chance to apologize – to absolutely nobody. The double champ does what the (expletive) he wants,” is now further etched in history by Grammy-nominated rapper Tory Lanez. In a new song titled “Stupid Again,” Lanez samples McGregor’s speech, which serves as an intro.
A highly anticipated album, Lanez’s “The New Toronto 3” dropped April 10. The 44-minute album has 16 songs with “Stupid Again” as the third track. The release is Lanez’s first album since “Chixtape” in November 2019. It also marks the final album on his Interscope Records deal, according to Lanez.
McGregor’s post-fight tangent came in November 2016 after defeating then-UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez by second-round TKO. The victory placed McGregor in an elite class of fighters who held UFC belts in two divisions.
McGregor became the first fighter to hold two UFC titles simultaneously. The fight headlined UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden – the promotion’s first event in the state of New York.
