Report: Patriots doing serious homework on Utah State QB Jordan Love

The Patriots are doing research on Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.

The New England Patriots may be on the hunt for another quarterback. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, they are “doing serious homework” on Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.

Love has been connected with the Patriots in several mock drafts. Currently, New England has second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer in the quarterback room. Adding a third player to the mix could foster a bit more competition.

Love suffered a bit of regression in the 2019 season. He threw for 20 touchdown passes and 17 interceptions. His numbers the year before was much better. He threw for 3,567 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and six interceptions. Following the 2018 season, Love lost several players to graduation, most notably receiver Ron’Quavion Tarver. Tarver accounted for 709 yards and eight touchdowns.

New England has several needs coming up in this draft. As the offense undergoes a rebuild, it will be interesting to see how the Patriots use their draft picks. They certainly have a lot of directions they can go in. Getting a quarterback like Love could help the Patriots transition into a stable era of football.
