2020 NFL Draft: Jets go with Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb in Daniel Jeremiah’s latest mock

In Daniel Jeremiah’s most recent mock draft, the NFL.com draft analyst has the Jets taking Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb.

CeeDee Lamb to the Jets is starting to gain a little traction.

NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah released his third mock draft on Tuesday morning, pairing Gang Green with the wide receiver. Few analysts have been more accurate in projecting picks than Jeremiah in past drafts.

In his latest mock draft, Jeremiah has the Jets taking Lamb with tackles Tristan Wirfs, Jedrick Wills and Mekhi Becton all off the board before the 11th pick. Here, the Jets are left with the option of taking the fourth-best tackle, Georgia’s Andrew Thomas, or a top wideout like Lamb, Jerry Jeudy or Henry Ruggs III. In this mock, the Jets chose the latter.

Here’s what Jeremiah wrote about the pick:

The Jets need to continue to upgrade the O-line, but they must weigh taking the fourth-best OT versus the top wideout. Sam Darnold needs some dynamic players around him.

While Joe Douglas clearly values rebuilding the Jets offensive line, Sam Darnold is also lacking playmakers around him. However, this tackle class is top-heavy, while this happens to be one of the deepest wide receiver classes in recent memory.

However, more than a few mock drafts have leaned toward receivers when it comes to the Jets and the 11th pick lately. If the team goes that route, then George Fant and Chuma Edoga would both be projected starters on the line. The Jets could also re-sign Kelvin Beachum or add veterans such as Jason Peters to the mix. There’s also the unlikely possibility of trading for disgruntled All-Pro Trent Williams.

Jeremiah spent four seasons alongside Douglas in the Baltimore Ravens scouting department, so if there’s anyone who may have a good read on what Douglas plans to do, it’s him.

There remains a lot of speculation with the Jets’ draft plans with just over two weeks to go. Nothing seems to be concrete, but it could be telling that someone as trustworthy as Jeremiah has them leaning toward a wide receiver in Round 1.
