Drew Brees, Kam Chancellor are among NFL All-Decade team snubs

A couple of big names fans are talking about.

As you’d expect with an NFL All Decade team list, there were some names that had fans grumbling about snubs.

Before we jump into those, here’s how it all went down, per NFL.com: the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 48-member selection committee voted, with only a handful of players getting in as unanimous choices.

Certain positions (wide receiver, running back, guard, defensive tackles and ends) got four players, while others got two, which is why there are only a pair of names at quarterback, and that led to everyone pointing out one of the bigger snubs: Aaron Rodgers was named alongside Tom Brady, and NOT Drew Brees.

Here’s the offense list:

As far as the decade goes, both players finished the 2010s with a ring (technically Super Bowl XLIV, a New Orleans Saints win, was in 2010!) and both have been masterful. So of course one of them was going to be considered a snub if either was left off the list.

On the defensive side, there was so much debate over the safety position, where Eric Berry, Earl Thomas and Eric Weddle made it:

Many fans were calling for Kam Chancellor and Harrison Smith to be on there instead of, say, Weddle. And this time, with Chancellor, I agree. Despite the fact that his career was cut short by injuries, his skill and versatility during his prime made him both vital to the Seahawks’ defense and influential on the NFL in general — our Steven Ruiz wrote an entire series about modern defense based on how Chancellor’s hybrid role was often imitated but never always filled by other players.
