“There’s going to be a major shift for our team moving forward, and the focus starts with our core five and the evaluation is about each guy’s growth individually,” Pierce said. “I put it out there, and I stand behind my comments of we need to make a major jump next year.” Pierce said of those five players, “for the most part, they’re starters.” He said the coaches have to evaluate Reddish and Huerter collectively, and they have to figure out whether Hunter is a three or four long term and if he should be playing more backup minutes at the four if he’s not. Those are questions the Hawks need to figure out so they can understand how to structure the team around those players and Capela.
