Amir Khan: COVID-19 created to control people while 5G towers go up

Amir Khan has said that the coronavirus was “man-made” to keep people under control while 5G cellphone towers are being built.

Count Amir Khan as a conspiracy theorist.

The former two-time junior welterweight titleholder from England has said in several Instagram videos that the coronavirus was created to keep people under control while 5G cellphone towers are being built.

The coronavirus started in Wuhan, China and then spread to the rest of the world, according to medical experts.

Khan and some others, including actor Woody Harrelson, disagree. Khan said:

“I don’t think it’s coming from China. That’s a lie, really. People are saying that they were eating bats and snakes and the poison mixed. What b——t is that? Do you believe that? I don’t. Coronavirus this, coronavirus that. You’re probably getting bored of it, as I am. Do you not think it’s anything to do with that 5G in these towers that are going up?

“It’s a man-made thing. It’s been put there for a reason, while they test 5G. It might be for population control; get rid of a lot of us, especially when they say that it harms old people. Look at these towers at night-time that have been put up, then telling people not to go out.”

Khan and the other conspiracy theorists have been criticized or his comments. U.K. Cabinet Secretary Michael Gove described the theory as “dangerous nonsense.” Some theorists reportedly have burned 5G towers in the U.K.

Full Fact, an outlet that busts fake news, said “there is no evidence that 5G is harmful to humans.” The technology is safe, according to the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, which sets guidelines on safe exposure to radiation.

The theory evidently took root last month after a video emerged claiming Africa has few coronavirus cases because it doesn’t have 5G technology.
